Hey there! I’m the Third-Eye Cat, your crocheting witch, and welcome to my online lair! I have a book coming out in October, so I thought I’d get cracking on making this thing.
Anyhoo, what do I do here? I crochet stuff to help practicing Wiccans, neo-pagans, and other magick-users with their craft. Need crystal storage? I got you. Need a potholder for your cauldron? I got that, too!
Crocheting has a lot of overlap with different practices and can be used to create magickal items for your spell work that have your energy, your very own trace in them, and I’m really excited to use this blog to show you how versatile crocheting can be when applied to your craft.
This blog is going to be more of a hodge-podge of different stuff rather than just patterns and how-tos. For instance, since many of the patterns here are functional for witchcraft, I might go over other crafting them and give free patterns, but I might also talk about herbalism, recipes and other DIY stuff you might want to know to keep money in your wallet, live off grid, or help our ecosystem (it really needs it).
I will also touch on sabbat projects and crafts for different schools of Witchcraft. Also, crochet subjects that tie into witchcraft, such as doing the least amount of harm when selecting materials to buy, or different magickal properties of fibers.
And yeah, I’ll still be talking fantasy and folklore and all that good stuff. I’m just tailoring it a bit more to my crafts and whatever ideas fall out of my head while I’m doing them.
Blogs will be released weekly (at first) unless there’s a sabbat weekend – so good news, you might see three blogs a week in a row some weeks. I might make this once a week later down the road, but for now, every other week is more than enough!
Starting off: Drawstring Bags

Since the bulk of what I make for my craft is used to store cards, crystals, herbs, etc, I make a ton of drawstring bags.
I love choosing stitches that express what I want to do with the bag. I can use a pattern that inspires a different element: air is light and transparent, earth is textured and mimics soil, fire is V-shaped and dynamic, water is fluid and can mirror waves or shells. I can also use tapestry crochet to place sigils on my bag. I can put crystals on the ends of my drawstrings to give the bag energy or drop some essential oil into the yarn.
This blog, I’m crocheting a shell bag to hold shells and various found-items from a lake, ocean or seaside. It’s for storing water-related items and works well for water, river, or sea-witches.
You will need:
Turquoise or blue yarn (worsted weight)
Size J (10 mm) crochet hook
Drawstring ribbon – I would use green, white, navy or silver
Crystal beads (moonstone, aquamarine, or turquoise are best)
