The Planets This Week: 10/21/19

Is anyone else still feeling the effects of the full moon T-Square last week? I have – I needed a week to recoup, but I’m back now with this week’s forecast!

The good news is that’s subsiding through the week. The moon is well into Tropical Cancer and about ready to move into Leo. The bad news is that the new moon in Scorpio will be opposing Uranus retrograde in Taurus, so expect the unexpected, especially technology crashes as we head into Mercury retrograde.

While Mercury isn’t retrograde until next week, it’s still in its shadow period. Today, it’s sextiling Pluto exactly at 21 degrees Scorpio. It will sextile Pluto and Saturn again through retrograde, which I’ll get into next week.

Right now, the big happening is that Scorpio season officially starts Wednesday at 1:20 EDT, so happy Solar Return to my fellow Scorpions! The following day, the sun starts its opposition to Uranus retrograde at 4 degrees Taurus. The sun will be 1-degree Scorpio when this transit goes into effect; remember that aspects in transit are effective within two degrees for planets, three if there are luminaries involved, so this transit will last from Wednesday through next week on the 30th.

The kicker is that the new moon on the 27th is directly opposed to Uranus. As I stated, Sun opposite Uranus brings unexpected developments and sudden changes. Since Uranus is in Taurus and is therefore in its fall (worst placement), these changes will most likely be unpleasant. Add in the moon, and we can see relationship and emotional upsets as well, especially since the moon is in its fall in Scorpio.

Again, this energy will be at its worst this weekend. It will most negatively affect people with planets in early fixed signs (1-7 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius for all planets since luminaries are involved). However, for people with early placements in other earth and water signs (Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn, Pisces), this new moon opposition could provide opportunities for clearing the air or starting fresh. They won’t be nice initially, but they will generally be for the better for these placements.

Mars will still be in Libra this week. This weekend, it will be inconjunct Neptune in Pisces (for minor aspects, I count it as exact for planets (must be on the degree), or within a degree if luminaries are involved). Alongside the new moon shenanigans that I described above, this aspect creates disappointment, especially since it impels people to act on unrealistic expectations. I’d say the people who will feel this aspect the heaviest are people with planets at 14 degrees Capricorn or Cancer, since both planets will have major aspects to those degrees in those signs. And of course, people with planets in the middle of Libra or Pisces.

Thus, this will be a relatively quiet week with the exception of Scorpio season, but buckle up for the weekend!
