Sun in Sagittarius, Jupiter and Venus on Galactic Center, and New and Full Moons 2019

Happy Saturday! The sun has officially moved into Tropical Sagittarius, kicking off the final days of fall and the last month of shrinking daylight.
The sun is in Tropical Sag during most of the “Holiday Season.” From American Thanksgiving through holiday shopping, preparations, and events, the bulk of that final rush of joy before going into months of cold, dark winter is under Sag’s purview. In universities, part of Sag’s domain of higher learning, final papers and exams are being given before the holiday break.
It’s supposed to be a time of adventure and reflection. In ancient times, this was hunting season, when stores of harvested food began to run out, so hunting was relied on for sustenance. Gatherers and farmers would crowd in their homes and light fires against winter’s first chills. Sagittarius is a mutable sign, so it’s a sign where seasons change. Here, we go from cool, crisp fall, the final days of harvest, into about three months of barren, cold winter.
But first, a word on Galactic Center, since on this opening of the season begins with Jupiter sitting right on top of it.
Galactic Center is 27 degrees Tropical Sag and the name is self-explanatory. It’s the point that’s the center of the Milky Way and with a supermassive black hole sitting at the center. It’s said to give planets who pass over this degree an energy boost, amplifying their power.
Currently, and through Monday, Jupiter is sitting on Galactic Center, giving it a last hoorah or Sagittarian energy before it moves out of rulership and into Capricorn (more on that below). On Sunday and Monday, Venus will join Jupiter at Galactic Center, blending these benefic energies and boosting them up to 11. Depending on where this is in your chart, it’s a great time to start, complete, or boost projects or efforts in these areas of your life (since it’s in my 1st house, it would be a good time for me to start anything that boosts my appearance, so a new workout regimen, new makeup routine, etc.). Generally, it’s a great time to start new financial endeavors despite Mercury retrograde’s post-shadow, romantic pursuits, or even make plans to go back to school or travel.
Oh, and like clockwork, the sun passes over Galactic Center in mid-December, giving some people (late Sag, late fire signs, late mutable signs, and to a lesser extent, people born in Mid-October and Mid-February) a much-needed energy boost to do some last-minute holiday shopping!
This Sag season will see the new moon November 26, a couple days before Thanksgiving, in early Sag. It will be unaspected with the exception of the sun conjunction. However, there will be some aspecting activity surrounding it. And if you do spell work, if you want to get a head start for New Moon spells on the 24th with Jupiter and Venus on GC, it’s a good call.
During this moon, Mars will oppose Uranus in Taurus, meaning aggressive, unexpected surprises can affect our physical selves and energy. This opposition will mainly affect people born in early fixed signs (October Scorpios, April Tauruses, January Aquarians, and July Leos). Mercury, going direct over its retrograde path, with trine Neptune in Pisces again, muddying communication, but not as badly as it did in Retrograde. However, this aspect, combined with the new moon, is a good time to start creative endeavors, such as a play or a film script. I’m also getting a sense that photography will be good at this time.
Jupiter, Sagittarius’ ruler, is in his final days at home, before moving into detriment in Tropical Capricorn. During the new moon, he will make a weak out-of-sign conjunction with Venus in Capricorn, easing his transition. Therefore, the best time to take advantage of Sagittarian energy is this new moon, or any time before Jupiter enters Capricorn on the 3rd.
While Jupiter is “fallen” in Capricorn, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Yes, it will be the beginning of the Grand Conjunction next year, as all the big players have moved into the sign. Yes, Jupiter hates being here. However, he hates being here because his abundance and good graces are restricted to career matters.
When planets move through Capricorn, they’re given a job to do, and in a sign ruled by Saturn, their gifts and abilities can be restricted to ambition, drive, career, and esteem. This is the case with Jupiter. Again, this is not bad. You will find natives with Jupiter in Capricorn can be very blessed in their career and finances, although the rest of their lives may not benefit from Jupiter’s abundance. For instance, the stockbroker who has a wonderful job may have less luck with marriages, family, friendships, physical dwellings, unless another planet is in a good place to make up for it.
That said, Sagittarians, people with Jupiter as their chart ruler (Sag Ascendants), and Jupiter-dominant people, take advantage of the final days of November. Celebrate. Then get ready to hunker down for the next year and get some work done!
The full moon in Gemini will feature an exact semi-sextile with Saturn, weakly conjunct Venus, in Capricorn. It will also form a weak T-square in the charts of people born that day (so weak I don’t consider it a “transit aspect” – it’s almost there, but it’s within 4 degrees and not my required 3 for luminary transit aspects). However, Mars, in the middle of Scorpio, will trine Neptune in Pisces strongly during this full moon.
Jupiter will trine Uranus in Taurus. Unexpected surprises will be activated, especially at work. The benefic nature of Jupiter makes them less likely to be unpleasant, but since Jupiter is fallen in Capricorn, they’ll probably be the most pleasant if they appear in work settings.
To find out how these transits will affect you, consult your natal chart and look at what house they’re occurring in and if they’re aspecting any of your natal planets. For these transits, the houses that will be most strongly affected are the 9th, 10th, and 3rd (the last one during the full moon specifically). Anyway, happy stargazing and have a happy, happy Sag season!
