A new moon is an auspicious time to begin new projects, start growing new ideas, and take on new endeavors. This new moon, in Aquarius, gives us some extra good luck in starting new jobs and new hobbies. That said, I’m creating a special project that’s easy for beginners and can be the foundation for beginning a crochet journey.
New Beginnings Wish Bag:

You will Need:
Worsted Weight Yarn
Size J (10 mm) Crochet Hook
Ch 20
Rnd 1: Dc on one side of the ch (20 sts). Turn over and dc on the other side of the ch. Sl st in the 1st dc to join (20 on side B – 40 total).
Rnds 2-10: Dc around
Rnd 11: Ch 3, sk 1, *dc in next dc, ch 1, sk 1, repeat from * around. Sl st to join.
Rnd 12 (optional): ch 1, sc across the top. Sl st to join, BO and weave in ends.
For the drawstring, I made two long chains and weaved them through Rnd 11. You can also use a ribbon or a thick yarn.
Simple pattern, right? The best part is, it’s a versatile base pattern. Want to change colors halfway through? You can. Want to do something fancier, like wave stitches or shells? This pattern is adaptable and you can use it to make your own custom bag. It’s wonderful to use for storage: small crystals and candles, trinkets, amulets, etc.
Happy Crocheting and Blessed be!
