Jupiter and Mars

As Jupiter slides back into Aquarius, I’m finally, finally, back on my blog.
I took a little sabbatical to work on my upcoming book The Crocheting Witch and settle into my new editing role at my job. Thankfully, I can get back to stargazing!
For the last few months, Jupiter’s been smiling on us from Pisces, a sign he co-rules in modern astrology. Traditionally, he’s at home, but in modern astrology, he’s been sharing the limelight with Neptune in this dreamy water sign (put a pin in this – we’ll circle back in a future entry). Now, he’s traveling back to Aquarius, making us reflect on how we can best serve our communities and use our efforts to benefit humanity.
Here’s where the current problem part comes in: as we speak, Jupiter is opposing Mars, but this is becoming a nothing-burger quickly as Mars is going into Virgo this weekend, joining Venus in this detail-oriented sign. Through the end of the week, with Jupiter and Mars opposing each other, we’ve been in a lazy mood at the end of this workweek (how we feel lazy depends on where this opposition is falling in our charts – for example, Jupiter is transiting my third house and Mars is gliding across my ninth, so I’ve felt travel plans and long-term study goals falling to the wayside).
Speaking of, are you feeling the need to clean lately? If so, blame Mars. Mars in Virgo is meticulous and wants everything neat and orderly: be in on the body, those reps you do in the gym, or whether you brush your teeth after eating an onion sandwich for lunch (please do).
Bonus points: the moon is currently trining Mars, so we’ll be feeling this feeling through the end of the weekend. So, if you have today and Sunday off, break out the vacuum cleaner or tackle that home improvement project you’ve been putting off. This will be super easy for my earth signs, but those with the sun or a bunch of planets in mutable signs might need some more internal motivation to get off the couch. Enjoy it while it lasts – once the moon squares Mars from Gemini in a couple days, we may feel less inclined to dust.
As long as Mars is in Virgo though, we may be finding our energies (physical and otherwise) directed at cleanup, better hygiene, and taking care of the small details when we exercise or do anything physical (anyone who gardens: the weeds aren’t going to stand a chance against you this month!)
The Crochet Witch comes out October 19th. Stay tuned here for more details.
